Gilman has a population of approximately 1,900 residents with a long history of fine schools that educate our children, and the many businesses, organizations, and churches that are part of our community.
An industrial park has been developed and is waiting to have businesses move into its facilities. The industrial park is located in the southwest part of town with easy access to the Illinois Central and TP & W railroads. Interstate 57 and US 24/45 intersect near the industrial park.
The City of Gilman has a long and interesting history. The Gilman Historical Society, located on Central Street in downtown Gilman, has gathered a variety of antiques and collectibles.
Six churches are located in Gilman.
Our school district serves the communities of Danforth, Gilman, Thawville, and Onarga. The 2007-08 district enrollment is 887.
