Gilman Water Supply

The following items have been incorporated into our commitment to providing a clean and safe water supply to our community.

Current:

  • We currently employ a certified water operator to operate our water facility to meet water quality standards.
  • We have formed a Wellhead Protection committee to meet annually.
  • Our current wells are secured by a locked fenced-in area and locked structure to prevent any unauthorized access to the wells.
  • We communicate with our water operator to make sure any needed equipment repairs are done quickly and efficiently to maintain water quality.  This also applies to main repairs or replacements

Going Forward:

  • We will create public information to make available to the community through the cityofgilman.com website and encourage the local FFA and schools to actively acknowledge and possibly incorporate learning activities during National Clean Water Week.
  • We will also address issues of how to plan for major water outages, such as finding companies that can truck water in, as well as providing large quantities of bottled water.
  • Incorporate, and-or enforce any illegal dumpling within city limit laws with strong penalties.

Ground Water

Groundwater is important to all of us.  It’s the water we drink, it grows the food on our table, and it nourishes our communities.  Because we all benefit from groundwater, let’s keep it clean and raise awareness in our communities about this vital resource.

GILMAN RESIDENTS SAVE WITH HOMEFIELD ENERGY PROGRAM

GILMAN, Illinois—Even though energy prices are on a nationwide rollercoaster ride, many Gilman residents pay less than half for their power than other communities nearby because they participate in the Homefield Energy Municipal Aggregation program. https://www.homefieldenergy.com

This municipal aggregation program enables Gilman and other participating Illinois communities to purchase energy at a lower rate through bulk buying. With the secured rate, Gilman residents in the program pay 9.344 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh).

“This Homefield Energy Municipal Aggregation is a great example of government helping people through tough times,” says Gilman Mayor Rick Theesfeld “Energy customers will have stable, low rates, which is a relief in today’s energy marketplace.”

There’s even better news for Gilman residents and businesses participating in the municipal aggregation program: That low rate is locked in until December 31, 2025. Such rate stability protects Gilman residents from unpredictable fluctuations in the energy market through the winter, summer and fall.

Gilman residents not currently in the municipal aggregation program can benefit by reaching out to Homefield Energy Municipal Aggregation program and calling 844-351-7691, emailing DESCustCare@vistraenergy.com or visiting the enrollment page [LINK: https://www.homefieldenergy.com/municipal-aggregation/enroll] for more information.
